Google creates free automatic website builder. Developers protest
If you are in the Tech industry, then you probably have heard the news already that Google has just released a closed Beta to its free automatic website builder. This is not good news for agencies like ours…
Google is set to release to the public in a couple weeks once the Beta phase is complete. Due to its popularity, experts have estimated the load on the servers will be unlike any google has experienced, so you can expect very slow load times and those speedy search results will only return most likely at the end of 2016 once the demand has started to level out and servers are upgraded.
Personally I don’t think a tool that builds their own website is a smart move at all. There are so many aspects which go into making a good marketing website that generates leads. After all it is the marketers, designers and developers of this world that create fantastic content that is compelling and what gives users a quality experience. By taking the professionals out of the equation they are essentially putting the power to create websites easily and quickly into the hands of business owners who may or may not know how to use that power. The most notable effect will be the load on the google servers, so for the next two – six weeks forget about getting the speedy search results that you’re used to!
So far there have been protests around the world in reaction to Google’s latest move as seen in the images above. We have started a petition to stop this immediately. We believe this kind of inhumane treatment of servers who cannot defend themselves is completely unacceptable and must be stopped at all costs.
